Today I had the privilege to listen to a panel hosted by The Female Quotient at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. The Cannes Lions has been championing creative excellence since 1954 with the goal of providing a global destination and the definitive benchmark for creativity that drives progress. This year the festival is focusing on six priorities areas: Sustainability, Diversity, Equality & Inclusion, Data & Technology, Brand Creativity & Effectiveness, Talent and Business Transformation.

The festival breaks down the priority areas with themes as follows:

  1. “It Pays to Be Green” : How can brands deliver on sustainability in a more authentic and impactful way?
  2. “Represent the Under Represented” : Improving the translation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in creative work.
  3. “A Renewed Focus on Talent”: Changing the industry’s approach to serve the talent of tomorrow.
  4. “Read Player Two?” : How can we begin to balance big data, tech and creativity?
  5. “Reframing Creative Effectiveness: Ideas as Investments” : Learning to measure the value of creativity in a more efficient way.
  6. “Re-imagine, Reinvent and Re-Build: It’s Time for a Factory Reset” : How can creativity support large-scale business transformation?

I was particularly impressed by Claudia Romo Edelman who is a self-professed marketer for social causes, advocate and catalyst for change. She is the founder of: We Are All Human, The Hispanic Star and Global GoalsCast. I listened with great admiration as Claudia cited some incredible stats about the Latinx community, which is massive. She spoke about how the US Hispanic community represents untapped potential for the creative industry.
